<\/div>\nRepublic of Turkey Ambassador to Nicosia, Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri drove the TRNC\u2019s domestic and National Car \u201cG\u00dcNSEL B9\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7er Republic of Turkey Ambassador to Nicosia, did a test drive with the first model of the TRNC’s domestic and national car G\u00dcNSEL B9 which was created by Near East University-affiliated Turkish engineers and designers as a result of labor that lasted over 1.2 million hours.<\/p>\n
Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri, who tested the vehicle in the driving area of G\u00dcNSEL Production Facilities on the Near East University campus, was accompanied by Near East University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. \u0130rfan Suat G\u00fcnsel. Making a statement after the test drive, Ambassador Ba\u015f\u00e7eri congratulated the G\u00fcnsel Family, who invested in this field with a visionary approach at a time when the world automotive industry was experiencing an electric car revolution. Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri, after the test drive, visited G\u00dcNSEL production facilities and received information about the studies.<\/p>\n
Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri: “I congratulate this visionary perspective that keeps pace with the technological revolution in the world…”<\/strong> Stating that he believes that this step taken for the production of electric vehicles in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will reach much more advanced dimensions in the coming periods, Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri said that it is proud that universities, which have an important role in the country, have come to point that will invest in the industry.<\/p>\n Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri: “We are taking serious steps in order to create an information and knowledge society in Turkey. I am happy to see that the same steps are taken in the TRNC. “<\/strong> Prof. Dr. Suat G\u00fcnsel: “While we are carrying out our efforts for mass production of G\u00dcNSEL, the continuing support and interest of Turkey give us strength.”<\/strong> About G\u00dcNSEL<\/strong> Agreements with over 800 suppliers from 28 countries have been signed for the production of G\u00dcNSEL B9. G\u00dcNSEL Thus, have provided a significant contribution to TRNC to become a part of the global economy.<\/p>\n The second model of G\u00dcNSEL, J9, will be produced in the SUV segment. The design concept of the J9, which was also designed as 100% electric, was also presented to the visitors at MUSIAD Expo 2020.<\/p>\n Electric cars are increasing their weight in the world automotive market every year. In 2018, the number of electric cars sold in the world was 2 million. Electric car sales, which are expected to reach 10 million by 2025, are expected to reach 28 million by 2030 and 56 million by 2040. Electric cars will take over 57 percent of the automotive market by 2040.
\nExperiencing the performance of G\u00dcNSEL B9 after test driving, the Republic of Turkey Ambassador to Nicosia, Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri said “While having a quiet and comfortable driving experience, rather have had the pleasure of perspectives that are aimed to be put forward with this car.” Describing G\u00dcNSEL as a precious product of the new age, the Ambassador also stated that he found it very important in terms of showing the research and development capacity of the Near East University.<\/p>\n
\nDrawing attention to the fact that there is a technological revolution in the world, Ba\u015f\u00e7eri said, \u201cWe are in the age of information and informatics. Nations that can keep up with these changes will be able to step on their feet more firmly in the upcoming period. This has always been the case in human history. Nations that can adapt to change and innovation have profited from this. I seriously consider this step taken to adapt to the technological revolution. In Turkey, in order to create an information and knowledge society we are taking serious steps. I am delighted to see the same steps taken in the TRNC.”<\/p>\n
\nAccompanying the Republic of Turkey Ambassador to Nicosia, Ali Murat Ba\u015f\u00e7eri, Near East University Board of Trustees Chairman Prof. Dr. \u0130rfan Suat G\u00fcnsel thanked Ambassador Ba\u015f\u00e7eri for his visit. Reminding that G\u00dcNSEL recently met with the homeland at the M\u00dcS\u0130AD EXPO fair and received intense interest, Prof. Dr. G\u00fcnsel said “While we are carrying out our efforts for mass production of G\u00dcNSEL, the continuing support and interest of Turkey give us strength.”<\/p>\n
\nG\u00dcNSEL B9 is a 100 percent electric car. The vehicle, which can travel 350 kilometers on a single charge, was produced by combining 10 thousand 936 parts in total. The engine of the vehicle has a power of 140 kW. The speed limit of G\u00dcNSEL B9, which can reach 100 km \/ h in 8 seconds, was electronically limited to 170 km \/ h. The battery of G\u00dcNSEL B9 can be charged in just 30 minutes with high-speed charging. In the case of fast charging, this time is 4 hours. The number of employees of G\u00dcNSEL, where more than 100 engineers and designers spent 1.2 million hours in the development process, reached 166. This number, which will increase rapidly with the start of mass production, will rise to over a thousand by 2025.<\/p>\n
