In the "Best Global Universities 2022-2023" field ranking published by the US News & World Report, Near East University is the best university in the TRNC in the field of engineering and the best foundation university in Turkey.
The US-based US News & World Report, known for its "best" rankings published in many fields from education to health, from automotive to tourism, has announced the "Best Global Universities 2022-2023" field rankings, which determine the best universities in the world. Near East University, which has entered the world rankings in the fields of "Engineering" and "Physics", was shown as the best university in the TRNC in the field of "Engineering" in the list published by US News, and also took its place as the best foundation university in engineering education in Turkey.
Near East University is number 1 in Turkey among foundation universities in engineering!
In the "Best Global Universities 2022-2023" field rankings, in which the US-based US News & World Report determined the best universities in the world based on the last five years' data in Web of Science, the universities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were also included in the Turkey rankings. Near East University was ranked 436th in the world in the list of 1,118 universities in the field of "Engineering". When state universities are also included, the Near East University, which is the best university in the TRNC and the fourth best university in Turkey in the field of "Engineering", ranked first among the foundation universities in Turkey.

Reminding that Near East University has proven itself in many fields by ranking high in the global university rankings published by higher education ranking institutions such as Times Higher Education, AD Scientific Index and Shanghai Ranking from different countries of the world, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “Our position as the best foundation university in Turkey while being the 436th in the world in the field of engineering in the Best Global Universities 2022-2023 rankings of the USA-based US News & World Report means that the Near East University has a prestigious place in world science.”
Reminding that the foundations of GÜNSEL, the domestic and national car of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, were laid at the Innovation and Information Technologies Research Center operating within the Faculty of Engineering of Near East University, Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “The first model of our GÜNSEL, which we continue to prepare for mass production, B9's fully functional 13 prototypes were tested by thousands of our citizens and received full appreciation.
