President Ersin Tatar visited the TRNC’s domestic car GÜNSEL and received information about the mass production activities after the test drive

President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar visited GÜNSEL and received information about the mass production preparations of the TRNC’s domestic car. President Tatar, who came to the GÜNSEL Production Facilities located on the Near East University campus, welcomed by the Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees and GÜNSEL Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel. A detailed presentation was given to President Tatar, who carried out a test drive with GÜNSEL’s first model B9 in the test drive area, then the studies carried out at GÜNSEL, preparations for mass production, future projections and the contributions that GÜNSEL will make to the country’s economy were explained in detail.

After the test drive and informative meeting, President Ersin Tatar and the Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees and GÜNSEL Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel made statements.

The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, visited the GÜNSEL production facilities on the Near East University campus, took a test drive and received information about the mass production activities, and said, “GÜNSEL is a great project that gives hope to our country and will strengthen our confidence in the future. The Founding Rector of Near East University, who believes in this great project, invests and gives us hope. I would like to express my gratitude to the Günsel Family, especially to Dr. Suat Günsel and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel, and to the engineers and designers who have contributed to the electric car GÜNSEL”

Describing İrfan Suat Günsel’s presentation as “impressive”, President Tatar said, “As I listened to the presentation, my belief in the future of our country increased exponentially. Our country, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; exporting technology, automobiles and engineering…It is impossible not to be affected by this struggle and belief to turn our youth into a country that provides qualified work force and closes our foreign trade deficit and has foreign trade surplus”.

Reminding that he attended the Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya last week at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Tatar also made statements regarding his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Konya. Stating that the TRNC is struggling with unfair embargoes and political restrictions, President Tatar said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev conveyed that Azerbaijan, like Turkey, has always stood by the TRNC and will always stand by in the future.

After his test drive with the GÜNSEL B9, President Tatar addressed GÜNSEL engineers and said, “I am proud of you all for showing what our country can achieve.”


Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel: “GÜNSEL will create a great leap forward in the economy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus not only with its own activities, but also with the automotive supply industry, engineering and technology activities it will create around it.”

Stating that GÜNSEL, the national car of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will start mass production within the next 18 months, the Near East Enterprises Board of Trustees and GÜNSEL Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. İrfan Suat Günsel said, “We have hosted our President Ersin Tatar, shortly before the mass production of our GÜNSEL, which will create a big leap in the economy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus not only with its own activities, but also with the automotive supply industry, engineering and technology activities it will create around it, and shared information about our studies.”

Prof. Dr. Günsel after making a comprehensive presentation on GÜNSEL’s development process, mass production efforts and the economic leap it will create to President Ersin Tatar and members of the press, also “I would like to thank our President for his visit, which made us feel that our state is with us.”
